I've found that when it comes to using multiple sheets of lino it's best to make sure you're happy with the image. I created Angel no.38 on three A3 pieces of lino, A lot of cutting, inking and printing on expensive Somerset paper. After shipping one off to a local exhibition I had this niggle in my head that just would go away. 'Angel' was just not me. I've reprinted her/him in more slightly muted tones now yet despite folks 'ooing and ahhhing' I'm still not convinced.
Artists of all types are such perfectionists and seldom do we show off our work with any real genuine conviction. I think inside all artists must have reservations over their works. For me, like other artists, it's an emotional thing and ironically I just cannot make an emotional connection with this piece, sorry 'Angel'
